PECCELL Technologies has been established in March 2004 as a venture company of Toin University of Yokohama based on Yokohama city, Kanagawa, Japan as a second venture of the university. Our stockholders comprise Toin University, professors of its engineering faculty, and five companies who participate in research collaboration with PECCELL.

The name, Peccell, represents photoelectrochemical cell, which belongs to a field of photochemistry and electrochemistry. Since pioneering discovery of the titanium oxide water photolysis at the laboratory of Profs. Honda and Fujishima, where I had been a graduate student in 1976-1981, field of photoelectrochemistry has produced important technologies contributing to industries and our life, as represented by semiconductor photocatalysts, which have grown up to be a huge market in this country.

PECCELL is now watching industries of energy and environment created by photoactive organic and hydrid materials in combination with nano-chemistries. Low-cost dye-sensitized photocells manufactured by using a flexible plastic film base are one of the promising devices our company's technology is focusing on. For this research, PECCELL sells a unique TiO2 coating paste to fabricate nano-porous electrodes on plastic substrate. It is also our project to seek a new field for industrial applications of photoelectrochemistry.In this sense PECCELL deals with rare organic materials including photosensitive proteins. PECCELL supplies measurement apparatuses of high cost performance to assist your study, such as solar simulator (artificial sunlight) which is compact, low-priced, and high-quality light source for a wide use in photovoltaic researches and photochemical experiments. We have supplied these materials and measurement equipments to major universities and companies worldwide, such as Tokyo Univ., Kyoto Univ., Kyocera, Teijin, Samsung, Bridgestone, etc. For exporting business, we also have good collaboration with major trading companies who help quick delivery of our products. We believe our customers enjoy using PECCELL’s unique materials and equipments.
